The Dominican-American designer launched a successful bridal line, and most recently, designed Amal Alamuddin's gown for her wedding to George Clooney in September.
De la Renta came to fame in the 1960s as one of Jacqueline Kennedy's personal couturiers, and established his own fashion house that has stood as one of the pillars of the fashion industry for years.
In 1965, the designer launched his own label, and soon caught the eye of former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Other first ladies including Nancy Reagan and Hillary Clinton would follow suit, as well as a bevy of A-list stars, from Amy Adams to Sandra Bullock to Jessica Biel and countless others.
Oscar de la Renta is survived by his wife Annette de la Renta, three step-children, and his adopted son Moises.
