Homeland Security Committee Chairman, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas)told CBS's "Face the Nation," that while republicans had no plans to shut down the government they would would try to "shut down the president" following President Barack Obama's decision to ease the threat of deportation for millions of undocumented immigrants.
"I want to make one thing very clear. We are not going to shut the government down. But we are
going to shut down this president and his actions as it pertains to granting amnesty to five million people. And so we're looking at various options on the table right now, including the power of the purse," said McCaul.
President Obama announced Thursday (November 20) that his measures include allowing some 4.4 million people who are parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents and who have been in the country for five years to remain in the country temporarily, with the right to work.
McCaul calls for republicans to come up with a "positive constructive agenda, which will lead, I believe, with my committee's bill. And that would be the Border Security Bill."
